Cherries Jubilee

‘Life is just a bowl of cherries.’ We have heard this…and this day it was taken seriously. Amidst the hot temps and humidity of the day, my grandson and I took a mid-day break in the form of a picnic on our lawn. For our dessert we had a bowl of cherries. They were delicious and perfect in every way. YUM!

…and yet, perfection just wasn’t good enough to end the picnic. With a twinkle in my eyes, I looked at him and I said…”Do you want to see how far we can spit the pits?”
“Yeah!” He said.
So the spitting of the pits began as well as all the laughs and giggles that could possibly accompany it. We both had different techniques yet both were quite effective. Distance and trajectory were both factors to be considered. Laughter and fun rated the highest of all.

After the laughter subsided, we assessed the situation and voted to collect the pits and plant them. Hopefully our efforts will yield a single tree. That would be the ultimate state of perfection. We’ll have to wait and see. Something to celebrate…definitely.

Cherries jubilee!
