Things Will Work Out

Are you an uber-thinker? Do you think and plan too much? Do you worry that your plans won’t work out?

My favorite movie is “Shakespeare In Love” and my favorite quote from that movie is this:

Philip Henslowe: Mr. Fennyman, allow me to explain about the theatre business. The natural condition is one of insurmountable obstacles on the road to imminent disaster.
Hugh Fennyman: So what do we do?
Philip Henslowe: Nothing. Strangely enough, it all turns out well.
Hugh Fennyman: How?
Philip Henslowe: I don't know. It's a mystery.

As John Lennon said: “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”. If we know what’s going to happen every moment, which doesn’t seem to be the case, then where’s the fun and adventure? Going with the flow seems to be the big plan. We can ponder the wonders of nature, but we can’t control it. We can try to influence others, but we can’t alter their free will. We can reach for the sky but we must let go to go up!

And how do we go forward each day? Again, by John Lennon…“close your eyes, have no fear”.  When you open your eyes embrace the new day and opportunities. Let yesterday go. When you open the door, fly to the sky and soar into the new day. Find joy in what you see and the moments as they present themselves to you. Whatever bothered you yesterday shouldn’t be brought forward to today. Doom and gloom has no place in tomorrow; but if you bring it, it will follow.

So tonight, when you say your prayers, aspire for a better day…then go for it in the morning!
