Making a Difference

At the beginning of each year, the majority of people make resolutions. There are many jokes regarding how long these resolutions will be kept. So often the resolution of New Year’s Eve is broken within a week.

While watching the Rose Parade this year, it dawned on me how great the concept was by the founders of the parade. The longevity of the parade to present day probably never entered the picture. It was a celebration and a beautiful one. Friends and community with flowers, horses and carriages were the start of it all. Anything this beautiful, creative and fun couldn’t fail. It has now been embraced the world over.

In turn, a company like Hallmark Greeting Cards with its quest for a quality greeting of good cheer reaching out to everyone has also been received globally. Originating with verses and expanding to TV, featuring movies with universal themes, has given Hallmark just over 100 years of success.

If you could make a difference that would last over a hundred years, what would it be? What legacy would you like to leave to the next generation? A single thought with a positive intent can last that long or more…but what? Resolutions come and go, mostly because of short-term goals. A positive thought and intention set beyond yourself, something to include others, will gain more momentum. Where there is fun, laughter and good will, the masses will surely follow and success be guaranteed. Who on Earth does not want fun, laughter and good will in their life? I can’t think of a single soul.

How you wish to change the world is up to you.

Cathy
